Presentation of Topics
Let's Talk About Presentation of Topics!
We have a CLASSROOM that's a stimulating
environment. The students and the teacher feel
comfortable and safe, physically and emotionally.
Our CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT system is set up
and running smoothly. The students
come in and arrange themselves and in two minutes we
are ready learn the next topic.
There are many Instructional Strategies.
In its GLOSSARY OF INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES
this website lists 875 strategies and methods.
I think Cooperative Learning works well
because it fulfills the human need for
interaction with other people.
I also believe that an
Integrated Curriculum can be a good strategy
if implemented sensibly.
I am very flexible. I do believe in routines,
but I am not dogmatic. Routines and structure
are liberating! When things run smoothly
and automatically, mental energy is freed
to be devoted to learning. I will describe a typical
day in each of several subjects at the high school
level.

As I mentioned in the CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT page,
I believe strongly in Cooperative Learning. I believe
in integrating games and contests into daily learning
activities to maintain interest and motivation. Group
games are best because everyone can play and win,
not just the academic stars.
As long as it's fun, educational, and emotionally
safe for everyone, games in the classroom are great.
They could be modeled on Jeopardy, The Weakest Link,
Survivor, or whatever the students and teacher find
to be fun and appropriate.
